3、gsurgicalinterventionforthemostcomplexcases,toreducecomplicationsassociatedwithincreasedmorbidityandmortality.Preventionofdiverticulardiseaseiscorrelatedwithahighfiberdiet.Fiberimprovesthestoolsconsistencyanddecreasescolonicpressures.SimiIarlyalowfiberdietisoftenrecommendedforcasesofsevereinflammati

4、onwithoutobstructionorabscess.Incomplicatedcases,parenteralnutritionmayberequiredtopreventmalnutrition.ThiscasereportdescribestheimplementationoftheNutritionCareProcessinrelationtoapatientrecoveringfromanextremecompicationofdiverticulitis.Duringhisadmissionheenduredabowelresectionwithcolostomy,septi

5、cshock,andabscessformation.ParenteralnutritionsupportwasprovidedtoensurethatthePatienlwouldreceivehisnutritionalneedsthroughoutthetimethathewasunabletoconsumenutritionorally.Evidenced-basednutritionrecommendationsfromASPEN,theAcademyofNutritionandDieteticsandcurrentresearchwereusedtoaidintheassessment,diagnosis,intervention,monitoring,andevaluationofthepatient.DiseaseDescriptionDiverticulardiseaseofthecolonhasbecomeoneofthemostcommonconditionsinAmericaandisoneofthehighestreasonsforoutpatientvisitsandinpatientadmittance(14).Forthisreason,itcarriesaneconomicburdenonsociety.Diverticu.
