4、emperatureisaround27milliondegreesCelsius.Inthecore,nuclearreactionscombinehydrogenatomstoformhelium,releasingvastamountsofenergyintheprocess.Theenergyreleasedthenbeginstomoveoutward,towardstheouterlayersofthesun.Justoutsidethecoreistheradiativezone,whichhasatemperatureofabout7milliondegreesCelsius.
5、Theenergyreleasedinthecoretravelsextremelyslowlythroughtheradiativezone.Particlesoflightcalledphotonscanonlytravelafewmillimetersbeforetheyhitanotherparticleinthesun,areabsorbedandthenreleasedagain.Itcantakeaphotonaslongas50millionyearstotravelallthewaythroughtheradiativezone.Surroundingtheradiative
6、zoneistheconvectionzone.Here,hotmaterialfromnearthesunscenterrises,coolsatthesurface,andthenplungesbackdownwardtoreceivemoreheatfromtheradiativezone.Thismovementhelpstocreatesolarflaresandsunspots.Thesefirstthreelayersmakeupwhatwewouldactuallycallthesun.Thenextthreelayersmakeupthesunsatmosphere.Ofco
