6、nhewaslivingwithher.Whenhewasfourteen,hemovedtoCleveland,Ohio,tostaywithhismotherandhernewhusband.HeattendedCentralHighSchoolinCleveland,Ohio.LangstonwasnamedClassPoetoneyear.Hepublishedhisfirstshortstorieswhilehewasstillinhighschool.VOICETWO:1.angstonHughesstruggledwithafeelingoflonelinesscausedbyh

12、her,andbegantraveling.Travelingwasalifelonglovethatwouldtakehimthroughouttheworldbeforehedied.Innineteentwenty-two,HughestookajobonashipandsailedtoAfrica.HewouldlatersailtoFrance,Russia,SpainandItaly.Hewrotepoemsandshortstoriesduringhistravels.Hisexperienceswhiletravelinggreatlyinfluencedhiswork.Hes

13、entafewofhiswritingsbackhome.Theywerepublished,whichhelpedestablishhimasaprofessionalwriter.FinancialproblemsendedHughesstravels.HetriedtofindworkonashipsohecouldreturntotheUnitedStates.ButinItaly,hehadproblemsfindingworkonashipbecausehewasblack.Inthepoem,I,Too,henotedthattheAmericancolorlineevenrea
